\nPwC Romania and its connected law firm in Romania, D&B David \u015fi Baias, provided financial, tax and legal advice on the buy-side in the transaction involving the sale of the majority shares of ROMBAT Bistri\u0163a to South-African based firm Metair International Holdings Cooperatief. The transaction amounts to almost 43 million EUR and it is one of the highest ever recorded in the Romanian automotive sector. <\/strong> Metair was also assisted by the South-African law-firm Taback.<\/p>\n

\u201cROMBAT is one of the largest automotive battery producers in the CEE region, with a significant market share both on the local market, as well as on export markets, and has great perspectives for development, in line with the evolution of the local automotive sector which has grown steadily, driven by rising exports, during the past few years. In the same time, Metair is a South-African based company that has stakes in several companies in the automotive sector. Metair is the main automotive battery producer in South Africa and is engaged in a program for developing \u201cnew generations\u201d batteries. They have been cooperating with ROMBAT for some time and this transaction shows their long term commitment for the development of Romania\u2019s auto industry\u201d, stated Sorin David, Senior Partner, D&B David \u015fi Baias, one of the coordinators of the consulting team.<\/p>\n
